[Hyperactive Amateur](https://hyperactive-amateur.fgelbal.com) is a small browser app for making a beat out of yourself. You record eight short clips from your webcam and mic, the app classifies each sound (kick, snare, hat, vocal, fx), and AI suggests a pattern across the clips. Hit space and it plays the song back as a video of you performing each sound on cue.

Inspired by Lasse Gjertsen's [Hyperactive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9698TqtY4A) and [Amateur](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzqumbhfxRo), two early-YouTube videos where he plays drums and piano with himself by way of careful editing.

It started as a 3-hour vibe-coded sketch I showed at the recent Automattic AI Enablement meetup. The warm reception of the live demo there got me curious about how far I could push it. Play with it at [hyperactive-amateur.fgelbal.com](https://hyperactive-amateur.fgelbal.com). Source on [GitHub](https://github.com/gelbal/hyperactive-amateur).
